The city of Vancouver, better known as “Hollywood North”, is well known in the film industry. During the past decade, the number of video and film productions has grown over 400% (from 50 in 1990 to 192 in 2000). In the year 2000, this industry generated over $1.18 billion dollars for the economy of British Columbia. The province is the place where many Studios shoot their films and videos and it is also home to many talent agencies. With over 70 Post-production Studios and 50 sets, this industry employs 35 thousand people approximately. Two of the largest Studios in Canada are Lions Gate Studios and Vancouver Film Studios. The Bridge Studios in Burnaby have one of the largest special effect sets in North America.
