222 - Whistler, BC Camp

Whistler Summer Camp

Standard summer program: 3 hours of daily instruction, 4 days per week. Minimum 2 weeks - Maximum 7 weeks includes one full day excursion each week.

Lessons are in small groups from Monday to Friday, with a maximum of 15 students per class. English classes rotate from morning to afternoon on a weekly basis. Emphasis is placed on language in real-life situations outside the school, communication and language games and work in-groups and pairs.

Students are grouped into 2 age divisions: 13-15 and 16-18 for their English and activity periods. English classes are created within each age division based on camper age and English proficiency. All campers take an English placement test on their arrival at camp to ensure the appropriate English level placement. We offer five levels of language.

For activities, students are grouped into counselor groups. The counselor groups for the 13-15 age groups are assigned to activities on a daily basis. Students in the group aged 16-18 are allowed to sign up for the activities they want to do from a list of different activities each day.

After classes are over for the day, students enjoy organized evening activities every night of the week. Evenings are fun and social. Activities include: talent shows, casino night, movie night, ice skating, discos, games, email, sports, theme dinners and barbecues

On certain days of the week students can choose to do the regular program or take part in an optional activity at a small extra cost. There are many options available including: white water rafting, wake boarding, swimming at the indoor swimming pool, horseback riding, berry picking or paint ball. .

Students aged 13 - 15 and 16 - 18

Evening program for teens involves more off campus time and more free time. Teenagers like to have time to talk and socialize and do not always want to be required to attend structured activities.

For that reason the evening activities are designed to give them time to explore places and make friends. Activities include visits to cafes, cinemas, discos on campus, casino nights and swimming. Students 16-18 are allowed to socialize in a co-ed lounge from until bed time which is at 12:00 most nights.

Weekly excursion

Every week students take part in either a two-day overnight camping trip or a one-day sightseeing excursion to the city of Vancouver. On the Vancouver excursions students visit a different attraction every week including the Stanley Park Aquarium, the Science World Centre, Suspension Bridge, the Imax theatre, shopping and Granville Island.

Students are divided by age and English level for their English classes and by age and gender for their activities so they are with students of their own age and ability for all of their classes and activities.
